About Marty Lyons Foundation TD Bike Tour

On Sunday, May 5, 2019 – 32,000 riders will ride 40 miles through NYC’s 5 boroughs in 1 day with 0 cars.

This is our seventh year taking part in this scenic tour of New York’s five boroughs and we invite you to support one of our 60 cyclists riding toward our goal of $200,000!

This amazing event, taking place on Sunday, May 5th, provides biking enthusiasts the unique experience of cycling through the five boroughs of NYC in a car-free environment while raising money for their favorite not-for-profit organizations who are participating.

The Marty Lyons Foundation is a charity partner for the seventh consecutive year. In 2013, a group of seven adventurous riders joined TEAM MARTY raising $25,000. Since then the team has grown to 60 cyclists with a goal of $200,000 to help fund dreams for our wish children.

Let's Grant Wishes Together

Marty Lyons was a NFL player for the NY Jets where he served for twelve years as a premiere defensive lineman. Early in his career, Marty befriended and became a Big Brother to a three-year-old boy suffering from an advanced illness. Three years later, in the spring of 1982, the youngster’s passing coincided with the sudden death of Marty’s father and the birth of his first child – a healthy son. These experiences profoundly affected Marty’s attitude toward life, fame and his fellow human beings. With the encouragement and assistance of his family and friends, Marty became determined to establish a foundation dedicated to granting the wishes of seriously-ill children.

This amazing Foundation has kept hope alive in the hearts of children with a terminal or life-threatening illness by making their special wishes come true! These wishes have the ability to sweep the children and their family away from the daily heartache of illness. It is a joyous time which creates wonderful memories and promotes a better quality of life.

We have granted wishes for a special trip to Disney, meet and greet with a celebrity, a computer system, a swimming pool, a shopping spree and much more. Every child has a dream, and although we can’t promise a lifetime of happiness to these seriously-ill children, we can make dreams become reality!

Why Participate?

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

Each dollar raised will bring us closer to our $200,000 which will fund approximately 40 wishes!

Please make a donation to one or more of our riders who are cycling to raise funds for our wish children.

Because we are a small not-for-profit organization, we are able to offer personal, hands on experience for our Wish Families. Since 1982 we’ve granted over 7,500 wishes to deserving children – one child at a time.
